The AD LOOP museum proposal is designed around eight key strategies to engage creative exploration.
« An Iconic of architecture and design, urban and human scale, framed viewpoints, a loop of possibilities, playful vertical connections, flexible and adaptive floor plan and wood component assembly. »
Its unique circular shape refers to design and acts as a new architectural landmark in Helsinki. We were inspired by Finnish design and architecture, maritime context, and the Fibonacci sequence.
The museum’s rounded facade creates a smooth connection between the two surrounding urban districts: the low density new Saaret development area and the medium-high scale residential buildings of Laivasillankatu. The transparent and open ground floor provides a welcoming entrance, relates to human scale and invites the visitors to experience the museum.Inside, a grand spiral staircase guides visitors through the museum, culminating in rooftop terraces offering stunning views of the city and harbor. This playful design connects the museum’s spaces, fostering a continuous loop of creativity, inspiration, and discovery.
Inside, the museum’s open-plan structure allows for maximum flexibility, supporting future exhibitions and creative experimentation. The building itself is designed for sustainability, with materials chosen for a low carbon footprint and ease of disassembly, ensuring the museum remains adaptable over time.
